How can I sell art online? from linesbyfran

How can I sell art online? Was one of the biggest and most important questions I asked myself before I set up linesbyfran.com.
”I’m an artist and an entrepreneur” - Fran, Director (Linesbyfran)
I decided that the best way to offer a great service to my customers and develop my art and brand further was to set up my own online art business, Lines by Fran ltd. Why? It means that my customers are protected by the regulations of running a business such as GDPR and DSR. But it also gives me so much in terms of opportunity for sending you the best content via email and shipping my products worldwide.
A lot of artists go down the Etsy route, which is great if you’re just looking to sell your products online and use social media. But for me it wasn’t enough. By setting up my own ecommerce website I can capture leads and help nurture potential customers. I can run analytics and heat maps to improve UX and highlight certain products. I have full control over the entire customer journey and that will enable me to offer a better service to my customers. Did it take a lot longer than setting up an Etsy or just trying to sell on social media? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely!
The Linesbyfran blog I’m going to use to build up an extensive library of resources for my audience and help them to get to know me better. If there’s anything you’d like to see here then please leave a comment below or send me a message. (As you’ll know if you’ve signed up to my email newsletter) All of the site content, email content and social media content is created by myself, I do not use agencies for anything. When you send an email or use the chat on the website you are talking directly to me. Another great tool I’ve set up on the chat and Facebook chat is AI responses, this means that if you ask a FAQ then you’ll get an immediate response! No one likes waiting to talk to a person but if you have a more complicated question then I will reply as quickly as I can and in the best possible way (I am only 1 person so please bear that in mind).
I’ve made some fantastic additions to the website lately. Firstly you’ll notice the email sign up pop up, if you’d like to receive updates and offers then I’d urge you to sign up. I’ve started to add free resources to the website, take a look at the ‘free social distancing print download’ I’m currently offering. As well of lots more analytical and SEO improvements going on behind the scenes which is going to help get my products in front of the right people and give them a better customer experience.
If you’re looking to start selling your art online then I would highly recommend going down the online shop / website route. I haven’t really covered selling on online galleries or other sites in this blog, I will do a separate post on that later. If you have any questions or you’re an artist and would like some more advice then feel free to get in touch.
Big love,
Fran.
